BELTON — Despite an 8-0 win over Killeen on Tuesday night, first-year Belton baseball coach Mark Krueger wasn’t overly impressed with his Tigers’ performance in their District 8-6A matchup at Tiger Field.

Kangaroos starter Bo Buckley (2-1) struggled from the start and left with the bases loaded and no outs in the second inning. Buckley gave up four runs on four hits, walked three batters, hit two, threw two wild pitches and was called for a balk.

“He’s a competitor; he’s going to fight,” Killeen coach Donald Trcka said. “He struggled a little bit with his location, but he’s going to be ready to come back and go next week.”

Killeen got its only hit of the night on a two-out single by Buckley in the second inning.

“We’re a young team,” Trcka said. “We need to pitch a little better and we need to cut down on our errors and do a little better at the plate. We’re going to keep fighting, keep battling and be ready to go on Friday.”

The Tigers and Roos play again at 7 p.m. Friday in Killeen.
